WALLENIUS SOL COO visits The MAST and Mapúa-PTC CMET

Mr. Henrik Karle, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of WALLENIUS SOL, visited The MAST of PHILCAMSAT and the Mapúa-PTC CMET of the Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (MMCL). He was accompanied by PTCI AVP Ronald Macalintal and the PHILCAMSAT team, led by the QA and Program Director C/E Alfredo Haboc, Business Development (BD) Manager Rheena Sollorin, and BD Officer Catherine Montoya.

At the MAST, Mr. Karle was shown by the MAST team, led by the Training Manager, Frank Malicay, how environmental concerns were given priority in the construction, maintenance of the facility, and delivery of training courses to ensure safety at all times.

In the afternoon, Mr. Karle and the team were enthusiastically met by the Mapúa-PTC CMET team, led by Dean Capt. Armando Ternida, and the top management team of Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna, led by COO Engr. Hilmer Medrano. After a short MMCL video presentation, the simulator upgrade drawing was presented and shared with Mr. Karle as well as the important contributions of Wallenius in the establishment of Mapúa-PTC CMET and the scholarship grant given to the 20 CMET cadets, who are now successful merchant marine officers and engineers, were highlighted. The cadets underwent a program consisting of 12 months of school, 6 months of the first phase OBT, 12 months of school, 6 months of the second phase OBT, and 12 months of the final school year, followed by graduation. This program, inspired by the Swedish way, has been implemented successfully and is considered the most successful Onboard Training Program scheme so far.
